Origami is the Japanese word for the art of paper-folding (ori = to fold, kami = paper). In its traditional form, origami involves creating figures out of square piece of paper without cutting or using glue. the most familiar subject is probably the crane, which in Japan is a symbol of a long, happy life. An ancient Japanese legend says that if you make a thousand origami cranes, the gods will grant you one wish.
